Forums are great, but what about Discord?

Hello everyone,

I am coming from Fitbit development and having a discord server is game changing! Forums are honestly great, but in 2019 (almost 2020) we are expecting near instant feedback.

As a developer, posting on Stack Overflow and other forums is second nature, they're great resources! But the ability to see who is online and reaching out to other developers with a simple click is a must have now.

I have noticed that there is no desire from Garmin to have a dedicated discord server, that's fine. But I did create one for us to use and grow. You can find it here:

I have a Discord account from my Pebble days and fount it very useful. The challenge will be to recruit sufficient members to make it useful.

As I mentioned in the other thread (https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/discussion/4227/irc-or-discord-discussion) this was tried 3 years back or so, it failed, and there have also been a few attempts with slack that also failed (as recent as a month or two back)

The issue isn't creating one, the problem is getting people to use it. Why would anyone use it instead of the Garmin forum, where there are people to answer questions her (both with garmin and other devs), the bug reports, etc? How will you get "instant feedback" without people there to answer questions? I think it would turn in a few newer devs asking questions that are best asked here.

That's the problem with things like discord and slack. Why would people use it vs the Garmin forum? You'll not attract a bunch of users, and probably not many that can answer questions. The answers are in the Garmin Forums, as well as bug reports, etc.
