Update Linux simulator dependencies

It is on our todo list. I think we'd like to try to get the simulator to link statically so that the library dependency issues just go away.

Thanks for the update Travis. Although, there are a lot of dependencies to statically link. Either way, any help would be appreciated. I realize I'm probably in the 3% of users using Linux with connectiq. FWIW, I've tried running simulator in a docker container too but it segfaults.

If the simulator is statically linked, we (Garmin) would need to ensure that all of the dependencies are satisfied at build time. Developers like yourself wouldn't need to be concerned with the dependencies at all.

I was just commenting on the potential size of the resulting binary that's all. But whatever works. I did manage to get simulator running by grabbing the dependencies from inside the container and putting them alongside the simulator binary (and adding that dir to LD_LIBRARY_PATH). It worked! It was easier to install the dependencies inside a container.

Well, technically, I didn't. It kept segfaulting on me. But if you share the XServer and export a few environment vars - it should work.

Hi, is there any update here? I tried to get it running on Ubuntu 20 LTS but I'm stuck with missing 'libwebkitgtk-1.0.so.0'. Is there maybe some explanation how to proceed here?

In short:

$ sudo echo 'deb cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic main universe' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/old-webkit.list

$ sudo apt update && sudo apt install libwebkitgtk-1.0-0

I'm now trying to figure out why all attempts to use bitmaps result in a "Details: Failed invoking <symbol>" error...
