API to detect when 6x pro Solar is charging via the sun

1) There has been some discussion about exposing solar charging information via the ConnectIQ API. We wouldn't use the SystemStats::charging flag though since that flag already has its own meaning and we don't want to change that.

2) As far as I understand it, this discussion hasn't generated any formal requirements, so the best answer I can give is I don't know.

As Long as Garmin is discussing it, its a start, if you want to promote these feature it can' hurt to add some API options for it. At this time I had write some simple code that checks if percentage charge increases while not charging via PC and indicate a little sun icon next to battery icon and if percentage drops don't display the sun icon For now. Although it appears it may take a whole day of charging to notice even a 1% increase.

I'm thinking that probably won't do it, as if the temperature increases the battery level could too.  It's a scheme I tried before "charging" was even available.  Also, it's unclear if solar charges, or simply slows the battery drain (solar could be doing something but the battery still decreases, just not as fast.

As a side note, "charging" isn't really charging - it's "connected to external power", as it will remain true even when the battery is fully charged.

I would be happy to just indicate if its getting a solar charge such as when solar intensity rises (even if its only slowing the  discharge of the batt), my original intent is just to indicate to the user via the watchface that the watch is detecting sun i.e. solar intensity goes up.

So the real question is how does the default watchface do it?? Garmin?

It's a native watch face and native apps can access a bunch of things that aren't exposed in CIQ.

is there API for this ?

It's only available on solarDevices with CIQ 3.2 or greater
