FR920XT: Widget Exits To Watch Face Screen After 1 Minute Of No Activity

I created a Timer widget that works fine in the simulator, but appears to exit after 60 seconds to the watch face screen. It doesn't have anything to do with whether the timer is running--if no buttons are pressed for 60 seconds, the widget is exited and the watch face is displayed.

Is this a bug or expected behavior? Is there any way around this behavior? If this is expected behavior, then it should be really clearly stated as a limitation of widgets and the simulator should be changed to follow the same behavior.

Running FR920XT (6.10 firmware),
Using Connect IQ Eclipse environment with Connect IQ 1.2.1 on Mac (10.10.5)

This is expected behavior.

For this type of application you will want to use the Watch App type.

That's really a shame. My one-key, lightweight timer will be much harder for users to access as an app--a lot more user navigation is necessary to get to the app.

The developer documentation should make it abundantly clear that this is another limitation of widgets--they cannot be passively watched by users--the app will be automatically exited (and the watch face shown) after some time period (e.g., 1 minute). The simulator should also be changed to follow this behavior by existing running widgets after 1 minute (for the FR920XT).

While a widget times out after a minute on the 920, on the vivoactive it's only 10 seconds.
