Err.. any tips on getting watch face to device (920XT)

So I went to the Connect IQ store (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/)
I sent a watch face to device
It opened up Garmin Express on my PC (v3.2.28) and sync'd my 920XT (v2.57)

Where the heck is my watch face?
Did the same for a battery percentage data field which isn't showing/accessible

Looks like I am missing a step in Express to get it to actually transfer to the device

Any tips will be helpful
  • AFAIK you need 2.64 firmware.
  • See the instructions in the sticky post about "Connect IQ 1.0.0". That should give you instructions on how to install the 2.64 beta software

  • haha

    thanks guys

I almost read the instructions cafrefully.. well.. everything except the 2.64 bit :-)
Things seem to be workin now
  • spoke too soon.. should have waited until i say the face on the watch itself.

I am updating via Express/USBCable and not via WiFi
In Express I go to Apps/WatchFaces and see the two I got from App Store
I drag across to Installed Faces and Apply
    It says it syncs ok

However in the Watch Faces menu of the 920XT under the Connect IQ Face they are not there.

I go back into Express.. reconnect the watch and sure enough.. the faces were not installed

Doesn't matter if I try installing 1 or 2 at the same time.. neither stick in the Installed Faces box
In fact if I click on Apply and go back into Watch Faces the faces are not showing in the installed box (i.e. the Apply doesn't seem to be installing)

    Any clues?

Do you have an APPS folder on your 920?
  • So far I have found its best to start with Express closed. Goto https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/ and sign-in. Locate the item you want and click Send To Device. This should open Express and send the item directly to the watch.

Of course all software must be at the correct version and the watch connected to the computer.

ConnectIQ info is starting to sprinkle into Product Support so hopefully everything goes smooth.

  • @AlphaMonkeyC - not developing anything.. just trying to get a watch face and data field installed on the watch from the app store

@7 SHARKBAIT_AU - yep, I have a folder on the watch called APP.. and this is where it gets interesting as i montored it.. when I have the watch connected to Express via usb and move the watch face app to "installed on watch" and hit apply, then I see that a file called IN.BIN appears in that folder. If I hit sync in express it still remains in that folder, If I then disconnect the watch and reconnect the IN.BIN is gone and the OUT.BIN has now the same time stamps as the IN.BIN had. So looks like it tried to process but failed.
    The APPS/DATA folder is empty

@EXPRESSCUSTOMERCARE - latest software (Windows 8.1 / Express 3.2.28.0 / 920XT 2.64). tried the Express being closed but didn't work. Express seems ok as the app is in Express
  • Ok.. resolved the issue

I put it in different usb port and that resolved the issue.. the watch faces and fields are now present on watch
Looks like the normal port I have been using without issue for the garmin is just a bit tired from all the changes going on (both ports are 3.0)

    Thanks for the help

I am having what seems to be the same problem. I tried multiple usb ports without success.

All software and firmware is up to date.
My 920xt connects by way of Garmin Express, which shows the watch face and data field that I desire as being on the 920xt.
HOWEVER, nothing about the watch's appearance changes.

    Please advise.
