"Sorry, the app wasn’t sent to your device..." on some apps, not all.

I have a strange problem with the App Store. Earlier today I uploaded an uipdated version of a data field, but when I tried to download it I got the "Sorry, the app wasn’t sent to your device because we’re having trouble communicating with our servers. Please try again later." message. Another of my apps download just fine. I have checked the manifest.xml, and the app ID is unique. I have sideloaded the data field, and it work fine on the watch. I just cannot see why it doesn't download...

This one gives the download error: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a3c1a414-5411-4c2c-bc9d-b00573ef56db
This one downloads OK: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/c3fb097f-c571-408c-ab44-d1c47a274302

It's a bit frustrating, because I don't know if the error is on my side or on Garmin's. I sort of suspect my side since my other data fields download just fine, but I just cannot figure out what's wrong.

Finally figured out what was wrong.
The attribute minFirmwareVersion="500" was added to the fenix3 element in the manifest file in the .iq package, and this apparently caused the App Store to think my Fenix 3 wasn't running compatible firmware.

I have been running 5.00 since it came out, but haven't synced with Garmin Express for a while, as I usually just use Garmin Connect Mobile. I sync with GCM several times every day, but the fact that I'm running FW 5.00 apparently this doesn't get through to the App Store...

After I synced with Garmin Express just now, the App Store acknowledge that I'm running compatible firmware, and I can download my apps again.

But I find it strange that syncing with Garmin Express in necessary to let the App Store know what firmware I'm running...

I haven't been able to download any app since I got my fenix 3 (about a week ago) that combined with the calories being widely out in comparison to my 910 had me wondering if it might be time to send it cab - but having seen this now i will try to connect using express and then see - thanks for the post
  • Thanks for bringing this up--we're looking into the problem. It appears to be related to GCM reporting the installed firmware on the device, but it's not entirely clear at this point.
