DST on alternative timezones widget

Garmin's own widget continues to fail at displaying the correct time at different timezones anytime there is a DST change forward or backward. Since it's been reported relatedly over the years without a care by Garmin, I was wondering if Devs knew a workaround? Is it actually hard to implement a widget that currently adjusts for DST or at least allows a manual toggle?

  • What I do when I display alternate time zones, is with app settings, I configure those as a UTC offset (-12 to 12).  It does require a change when DST comes and goes in an alternate zone.  Some use a table based on a location ("London time", "New York time").

DST dates even for specific locations can vary each year, and the watch itself uses the tzmap file (it often gets updated 2 times a year) but that's not available to CIQ.

    Thanks for the insight

  • Another thing.  In addition to DST dates not being consistent year to year, there are also places that never switch to DST.  I live in such a place.

And London and New York start/stop DST on different days.

While I agree there are many variables, I still think in the larger context, compared to the expanse of data Garmin keeps and manages regarding maps and geographical info, this is relatively quite a small data set
