Widget crashes a few seconds after loading with 1.20

My widget, which used to work 100% on previous CIQ/firmware now crashes back to the watch face after a couple of seconds after its loaded and displaying OK. In other words it loads and displays the first 'page' / screen fine, then after 2 to 3 seconds returns to the watch face.

Using 1.20 and 6.20 firmware on 920. There is nothing in the widget log or the ciq_log.txt

It works fine in the simulator.

Any ideas Garmin?
  • I'm not entirely sure it's crashing (not to argue, but I just don't know for sure). If the widget is crashing, it should write to the CIQ_LOG.txt. If the watch is crashing, then it would probably reboot and write to the ERR_LOG.txt file, but you only mention it returning to the clock page. Do you see the IQ icon with an exclamation mark at any time, or does it appear to transition away from your widget back to the clock page? It almost sounds like the widget timeout is just too short (which is a firmware thing).

If you're willing, you can send the compiled app to me at "][email protected], and I'll do some testing with it on a Forerunner 920 to see if I can duplicate the issue. If necessary, there are some other things we may be able to do to root out the problem if it is crashing.
  • Please don't laugh!

Stupidly, I was hitting the back button NOT the light button. DOH!

So pls accept my apologies. What a muppet I am.
  • back in the days when the revert time for all widgets on the vivoactive was 10 seconds, I'd see this 50+% of the time on widgets that did makeJsonRequests(), and even now, I see it every once in a while, if I have data problems with my phone and the cell network, or the site I'm hitting is slow/not responding
