The UX guide indicates that large numeric fonts will be available.
TEXT FONTS VERSUS NUMBER FONTS
Garmin devices have two kinds of fonts available – text fonts and number fonts. Text fonts are for displaying text and number. The text font will come in three sizes:
1. Small – chosen to be the smallest readable font on the display
2. Medium – larger than small; chosen to efficiently display text.
3. Large – larger than medium; chosen to be headers.
The number font is a larger size font that can only display number data. It has four sizes:
1. Mild – quarter screen display of numeric data
2. Medium – one third screen display of numeric data
3. Hot – one half screen display of numeric data.
4. Thai Hot – number covers most of the screen.2
Font Size 4 works as a Large Text font on both the simulator and the watch.
Font Sizes 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 work on the simulator like described here, but on the watch, they look like a small or tiny font. Will Mild, Medium, Hot, and Thai Hot be available or do they need to be created as custom fonts?
I was testing on a Watch Face, but ultimately, I intend to use the fonts on an App. I'm already doing the command line build that gets the custom fonts oriented correctly.
