Font quality in fenix3

Hi,

I have noticed that some built-in fonts on the fenix3 do not appear as crisp as one would expect.

The fonts that I had users complain about are FONT_SMALL and FONT_MEDIUM on the fenix3.

This is very noticeable with different colour combinations other than black and white.
Also the font appear very thin and is not as bold as the smaller FONT_TINY and FONT_XTINY.

I would like to avoi having to import my own crispier and more solid font, because it is to be used for dates, and to support all languages, I will have to import a lot of characters.

Is Garmin planning on improving the fonts?
  • Of all the watches fonts, I personally find the font used on the F3 is the best. Steelfish. (this is the numbers only font)

ya.. I realise I'm not helping..sorry for the noise..

Haha, thanks for the noise anyway. The problem comes with the Month and day names. And the fact that there are so many languages out there, so the character set is huge, and this will negatively impact performance to have to import a better font manually.

So this need to be addressed.

I am suspecting that the black and white looks best because of the antialiasing using the two shades of gray, but for other colours there are not different shades.
  • Actually - on looking at my app and the FONT_SMALL and in red / green (I use this to indicate the GPS quality in my datafield) and it really doesn't look great.

Oh.. did I mention that I hate the EPIX? The fonts are either Too big or too small. And custom fonts (lucky me I only need to import numbers.. LOL) and on a Datafield, tat's already 1-2kb too much memory usage!

    Thanks for confirming this.

    GARMIN, any comment on this?
