As 920XT has a wifi connectivity, would Communication be able to use it directly (e.g. JSON requests)? Or even for such a device, it will always need GC app on the mobile?
Thank you for the response. Are there any plans for wifi? One of the reasons to buy 920XT is the possibility to forget about phone and computer, as everything (standard) can be done using wifi. Turning on GCM app just to allow CIQ app to connect to the Internet seems too much of a hassle.
It's a matter of resources on the device, power usage, and possible usability issues with using WIFI when you can't configure hotspots on the device. I think the Apple Watch will have your current WIFI hotspot on your iPhone (and the credentials) sent over to the watch.
I am hoping that people take advantage of making autonomous apps with CIQ, or at very least use the BLE in some form of sync step and otherwise run without the phone. A gym is a perfect example where you can fetch some basic information about a workout via JSON, start heart recording, and make a pretty cool app that doesn't need your phone during your workout.
