Removing & Redeploying App To Connect IQ Store

I would like to remove support from a current data field I have deployed and add a separate data field for specific devices. So it is pretty clear that users will need to select the new data field to add it and it will have a new identifier associated with it. The question is, when I deploy a new version removing support on the current version for specific devices what will the user see happen:

- will the current version on their device stay their till they remove it even though the store no longer allows device download;
- will the current version be removed from their device on sync;
- something else?

I want to make sure the data field isn't yanked from the device they are currently running but would like to have it removed from the store so I can add a new version with same name with only one having support for each device: think Garmin's Sun & Moon widget which has multiple versions named the same thing but each one supports different devices. It might be simpler to just create a new named version for each device but that adds clutter and essentially duplicate fields in the store for download.
  • I'm checking with the app store team on this. I believe that the app will stay on the device until it is removed by the user, but I'm not 100% certain. I'll let you know when I hear.

    Apps are not automatically deleted from devices if an app is removed from the app store, so the app will stay on their device but will not receive updates until you re-enable support for their device.
