Hi

To: Masterpilotguy

You sir made a great, fantastic and very cool watch face "healthboy 3000"

Thank you!

On fenix3 colors are good- Green like the original

And You implemented cool feature with crippled legs for move alert.

But thing is, move alert do not work properly on f3 at least. People complain that right after marathon they get alert for not moving enough :-\. My obserwation confirms that. On fenix3 with fw 4.4.

So after heavy day at work at 15.00 I had already 11.000 steps, went to training, today its weight lifting, not so much walking but any way tiring 1 hour. Im pretty stationary in the gym from f3 perespective and instantly I get on screen cripled legs :-[.

My idea is as follows

when for example my daily steps goal is 9000. Then for every hour (make it 12 hours ) of previous day I made 750 steps

Then today if after couple of hrs im "behind schedule" of step counter, screen could then show crippled leg,

If im still laging for another hour then another crippled leg. After day or two with not reaching steps goal more crippled character on the watch face ?
  • He is just using the device's built-in move alerts. If you don't move for an hour, you get the first notification, then every 15 minutes after that for the next hour. After two hours you should have heard 5 alerts. This is the way it is supposed to be.

The move alert is not there to tell you how much or little you have worked out recently. It is there to tell you that you need to get up and move around; sitting for long periods is not good for you.

I know how it works thing is it sucks at that.

I do not think it should be that way. Now its pointless to use it except maybe for people sitting behind computer screen all day long

Take for example yesterday, I made total 19563 steps just to get crippled leg icon

I think its ok to rest for a while, watch a move, play a game (new vegas) or whatever suits tired person

Activity reminder should consider how active I was prior to lazy period.

There are threads on f3 forum with people with same experience

Anyway its a suggestion from point of view of pretty active person.
Typical customer of f3 is already active person

Maybe in simple activity tracking band for usual fatty could have such reminder as it is now in f3

That is exactly what it is for. The problem is that you are missing the point of these alerts entirely.

Congrats. You run 13 miles in a day. I ran 13.6 miles yesterday as well. According to research on this subject, it does not matter how much you exercise. It doesn't matter if you just finished running a marathon or if you walked around the block. Sitting still for an extended period of time is not good for you. That is what the alerts are trying to tell you.

Activity reminder should consider how active I was prior to lazy period.

According to the research, it should absolutely not consider how much exercise you did prior to your rest. You disagree, and that is fine. The problem is that you are missing the point of the feature, and you're proposing a solution that has no research to support it.

Yes. These people don't understand the reason for the functionality in the first place.

According to what I've read, instead of running 13 miles all at once, you'd be much better off to run 1 mile at a time spread out over the entire day.

  • A month or so back I doubled my daily step goal, came home, sat down, grabbed a beer and put on a movie, and an hour later, got a "move" alert. I did want was expected.. I ignored it and grabbed another beer!

If you think a "move", in whatever form it takes, is bogus.. Just chuckle. At other times, it's there to help you.

I've not seen this "thing" firstand, but based on the thread, it seems to me the whole crippled kid thing is pretty sick, IMHO. As someone that struggled with crunches for months just getting to the mailbox or the bathroom, it's quite offensive. Garmin should remove it from the app store.

Devices like the Garmin devices inspired me during the time I LITERALLY had to learn to walk again. "Cripples" are not funny or a status, as they could be you after an accident. Or are you one of the folks that park in a HC spot as it it will be "only a minute" when it's really 20...
  • @maciek100 - Thanks for the compliments on the watch face. As a watch face it runs in a low power state and does not have full access to the entire API. I do believe it could be made to do something like you are suggesting, but the more data it accesses and calculations that have to be done will increase the battery drain and could potentially slow down the watch face. Also keep in mind that this was just a fun project that I initially made for just myself and someone convinced me to put it out there for others. I enjoyed making it and have a couple of others that I may post eventually, but I will be sticking with the built in activity tracking features. I also have to keep the install size down as there is only 512k of storage space for apps/watch faces and when using images that can go fast. I also only have 64k of running memory to work with so there are a lot of limits on what can be done.

@jim_m_58 - Please take a look at the watch face before commenting that it should be removed from the store. It is a design based on a very popular video game where you have a wrist based device that indicates your health status (among other things), when you have been injured in the game the device shows different limbs as being crippled until you can heal yourself. It is not meant to make fun of anyone who is crippled it is just meant to be a fun reference to the game it was based on.

ok. you're right. I did not realize how it works in general.

I will do like jim_m_58 says:

"A month or so back I doubled my daily step goal, came home, sat down, grabbed a beer and put on a movie, and an hour later, got a "move" alert. I did want was expected.. I ignored it and grabbed another beer!

    and

jim_m_58 dond be upset by this watchface its based entirely on a game. game that is a legend in a world of players.

masterpilotguy i understand (sort of). you made a great work!
  • Sounds like I would NOT be a fan of the original video game.....
