SDK Manager?

I see there is an SDK Manager in Eclipse under Connect IQ->Open SDK Manager, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I swear once upon a time it did list the sdk to download, so I thought that might be the proper route to unpgrade to the new release, but nothing is listed when I go there now.

So is the proper way to upgrade to use this SDK Manager tool? Or is it to manually download and either replace the contents of the directory or point your Connect IQ Preferences to the new version?

BTW, what I tried was:

1. Downloaded SDK
2. Renamed my existing directory to connect-sdk-win to get rid of version specific name
3. Copied contents of new SDK into the directory
4. Removed old directory from Connect IQ Preferences, and added new directory

Now all my configurations list have only one device listed "<invalid>"
  • You should be able to use the SDK manager to download the SDK releases. When I open the SDK manager, it has a place to enter the path to download to, and a list of versions to download. I see three versions listed (0.1.0, 0.1.1, and 0.2.4).

All you should have to do is enter the path to save the sdk files (C:\Garmin\ConnectIQ in my case) and then click the download button for the SDK you want to download. The manager will download and extract the SDK to a subfolder, and then it will prompt you to make that the active version. If you choose to do so, it will update the ConnectIQ preference. Otherwise you will have to go back and do it manually.

OK, thanks. It did show me that at one time. I tried again this morning and nothing.

The solution was I had to go to Help->Install new software and put in the URL again and upgrade that way. It upgraded my SDK and now SDK Manager works.
  • There was a bug in the old SDK manager that could cause it not to work, but it has been fixed in 0.2.4. Thanks for the report.
