The Simulator and sensors can it be a bit smarter?

Ok, I'm digging into sensors, and I've found a few things that could be improved in the simulator.

First of all, I use "simulated data" as a test case. Can there be some way to specify what sensors are available in the sim? For example, toggle the foot pod on/off? Turn off the HRM sensor so the lack of a HRM can be tested, etc?

#2 - again using the foot pod as an example - it's providing "cadence" (steps per minute) Can that be fed to the "activity tracking" part of the sim and be used as the "steps per minute" for that? The sensor is providing "steps per minute", so shouldn't that carry across?

#3 "midnight" - not really a sensor thing, but at midnight, shouldn't things like steps be reset to zero?, and maybe the old step count be automatically added as "yesterday" to the step history, and the other values be moved down?

Just ideas to add to the list...
  • Good suggestions. We've discussed some similar things, especially since our simulated data is essentially random values. It would be much more useful for testing if we could simulate specific conditions, like you've mentioned, and we recognize that.

I'll get these ideas on the books to make sure they aren't forgotten.
