You mean stuff like step tracking? On the VA you can't do that even from settings on the device itself. You can hide the widget, but it still counts. I have the widget hidden so I don't get move alerts and the (mumble, mumble) fireworks when reaching my step goal, but still get the data.

So..on a VA it's out of luck. The rest of the watches can enable/disable, but not sure if it really stops counting or still counts in the background like u mentioned.
Was just trying to see If I can auto disable it for specific activity. (Automatically of course)
The Garmin guys have indicated that ConnectIQ apps are not supposed to be able to affect device state outside of the app. I seriously doubt that we'll ever be given the ability to enable/disable step counting globally from within a ConnectIQ app.
