Why are stats wiped out for each new version?

Yeah....I'd also like to know why stats are reset :(

LOL.. only now do I understand what you guys are talking about. I just uploaded a new version and all the stats are gone.

I mentioned it a couple weeks ago as well. Not only are the stats gone but the app is buried in the bottom of the store as if it never existed except for a passing time on the new section till it works it way back up.

Only completely new downloads count as a new download--not updates.

I'm a little skeptical about this statement. I just updated my app and I am seeing a incredible amount of downloads over just one day. I've not updated the app for over 1+ month and have been seeing a steady state of 200 downloads per day, then this happens when I update the app.

Still early days. We gotta keep reporting so that they fix it.

I have a strange feeling about the numbers, too. But it could also be the advertising effect of the "new and updated" section of store.

You were right to question the numbers. :) I've had some discussion with the app store team, and they said that the stats reflect the overall number of downloads, which includes all past versions and updates. I had made an assumption that this only reflects new, unique downloads because that's what the download count represents on the public-facing app listings.

The app store team is planning some improvements to the download stats that will allow you to keep the stats when the version changes and enable you to differentiate between new downloads and updates.

Truthfully - I rather want to know which devices are downloading more. Or -- breakdown by devices.

Am I the only one who can't update app description? When I update description and submit the form it says: "Description (English) is empty.", then it shows empty description. When you update it second time and submit, the page becomes blank.
