cIQ datafield ends when the user re-start an activity, paused with "resume later"

Hello,

I test one simple data field where I works with info..... (Distance, Ascent, Descent and so on) from running activity. When the activity runs, data field shows expected data. When I stop an activity and choose "Resume Later" in my f3 device and starts an activity again (after lunch somewhere, for example) the cIQ data field ends with IQ! logo. WHen I use only "stop" of activity and then I use "resume", it works without any problem.

I found it isn't a problem only in my datafield. Have anybody the same problem?

Tomas

i can concur partially with Tomas. When I do a resume later, I will get a IQ... (With 3 dots instead of a !)
When the activity is restarted/resumed (immediately) - Tomas said above he resumed it after lunch - I didn't test that, the fields will come back again and there doesn't seem to be any errors.

    What does IQ... MEAN?

Does the fields not show cos I don't do a onHide()? Or OnExit()?
  • I just tried a resume after 40mins.. Still works. Even tho it shows the IQ... (3 dots)

The IQ symbol with 3 dots is used by the Fenix 3 when an activity mode has been entered, but has not started yet. This is because the Fenix 3 does not start ConnectIQ data fields until the user has started the timer. It sounds like the Fenix 3 is not restarting ConnectIQ data fields when the "resume later" feature is used. I will report this to the device team.

I have a F3. That 3 dots is visible when I do the resume later.

First you said "does not start CIQ until user started the timer" - when one starts (me / fresh session) the CIQ field is usable / shows the layout. NO IQ... Present.

When I do a resume later, the IQ... becomes present.
I clearly do not understand the "not restarting CIQ when resume later is used.

I had a bit of misinformation because the functionality was changed since last I knew.

Originally, data fields would not load on the Fenix 3 until the timer was started for the first time. This is the functionality that has been changed as I am now seeing them loaded as soon as the activity mode is opened.

The fields are not being loaded when you re-enter an activity where you previously selected "resume later". They are loaded as soon as the timer is restarted. I don't know if this is required functionality or not, but I talked to the device team about it and they are looking into it.

If the fields can be loaded after a "resume later" they may make a change to do so. If they cannot, we will look into displaying the app icon instead of the graphic that looks so much like the crash screen.

Since I started developing data fields, it was there already. meaning it works w/o going into start timer. i think it was 3.0 FW

the fields (in my case, but seems like the OP does not have this same capability (??)) will show a IQ... but when the timer is restarted, it will pick up where it left off. ELAPS will show 40m but TIMER will stop.
  • I tested the same with two f3 devices with last fw. Both were restarted after instalation of last fw but one showed me IQ! and the second one showed IQ... as Nikeow wrote. I tested other data fields except my project and it showed me the same (IQ!). After it I had one idea. I tried to turn the device off and on again and now it show me IQ... till I resume the activity by pressing START.

It looks some devices will need manual "restart" and then they works correctly.

Wow.. The resume later will even survive after a restart??
  • No, I meant something else. I tested many things with my own and my friend's device but my own still showed IQ! but his showed IQ... I had the same fw and the same datafields in both devices. So, last one which I test was turning my device off and on again and after it I tested the activity and its "resume later" function. Now, it works with IQ... on both devices.

But, I could try to test it, if "resume later" will be available after turning the device off and on again :)
