no target device when side loading app

Hello,

I am running the connect iq SDK 1.1.1 on Mac OSX 10.10.3 with eclipse Kepler Service Release 1 and the connect IQ plugin (don't know how to check the version of the plugin. I installed it on May 14th, 2015).

System path includes the bin dir of the SDK.
Ecliplse preferences->connect iq points to the root of the SDK.

When I load an example app (MathSample), I cannot side load it on my watch 920 xt - because the drop-down menu for
"Choose the device to build for"
offers no options at all.

The devices.xml file exists and contains entries for the 920 xt.

What is going wrong?

Did u already do your "run configuration" thing?
The symbol is like the play sign.

Yes, I created a run configuration. The sample app plays fine on the simulator.

You have to add the 920 to the list of devices your project supports. You can do this by opening the manifest with the Manifest Editor or through the project properties.

Now my forerunner shows up as an option.

However, after completion of the side loading process, no new app named "mathsample" can be found on my watch...

Do you have any idea why that is the case?

By the way, there is a mathsample.prg on the GARMIN/APP folder on the watch.

Found it, it shows up as a widget.
Can you tell me why it shows up as a widget (or more precisely, how I specify whether it becomes a widget, a data filed, a watch face, or an app)?

It shows up as widget because the project settings indicate that it is supposed to be a widget. If you go to the project properties, you can change the application type.
