Settings menu doesn't update even though Connect IQ shows updated version

I'm currently working on a data field that is in Beta (so I only I can download it).

A few times now I've updated the app in the Connect IQ store, it shows the updated version number, but when I download and install the settings menu is displaying deprecated setting options.

I've tried:

- running the app in simulator mode (the new settings menu is correctly appearing in the simulator)

- uninstalling/reinstalling the data field

- power cycling the device and then uninstalling/reinstalling

- waiting several days and then repeating the uninstall/reinstall

Am I missing any troubleshooting steps? Thanks for the help

  • Also tried:

    - updating the app again and uploading to connect iq

changing the string names for the settings to see if that forces a reset

    - uninstalling Connect IQ store from iOS (deleting all app data) and then reinstalling Connect IQ store and reinstalling datafield

  • Ahh ok. On my watch I pulled up the Connect IQ store app, and then opened the data field. It says the version installed is 0.31 even though the Connect IQ iOS app is showing version 0.39; I'm not sure why it keeps installing the older versions. Is this just a Connect IQ store lag, or is it possible that my newer versions are crashing during build?

  • When I update something in the store, I just wait for the mobile app to shows there's an update, and don't keep redownloading

I try to be really careful about anything that changes app settings resulting in a reset (it's about 2 years since I did it for any app), because users tend to get really confused and vocal when their settings get reset.

  • gotcha thx. do you know what causes a settings reset? If I keep the same properties as an old version but then add some new ones, would this still cause a reset?

  • I think I might create a bug for the connect iq ios app, it's confusing that it says I downloaded the latest version 0.39 but when I actually check on my watch it's just 0.31. Along the same lines, the store doesn't let you leave a review unless you have the latest version, but now that the store thinks I have the latest version I can leave a review, but in reality I don't have the latest version.

  • In my perspective currently there is a general bug in store.

If I'm uploading an update, my developer dashboard shows new version. Download button looks like working quite normal, but in reality, the system is not downloading new version, but the existing (tested on Express and Connect).

If I'm logging out on store and searching for the App, store is showing the old version.

I also uploaded a new app. I'm not able to download (even next day), "communcation issue with our servers" shown. Garmin status is completely green (https://connect.garmin.com/status/) ...

Behaviour is since Saturday. All the updates I did this weekend are uploaded but not available to the community. Really strange here.

  • This is the "usual" bug(s) + the weekend/seasonal bug(s) + in the last week there were other problems in Garmin (all services)
