What are the chances the Merchant Supported Countries List will be expanded outside EU?

I was going to register for a merchant account to publish my newest watchface, but I found out that my country is not in the list.

This really sucks, as I feel that soon no one will bother with 3rd party payment systems.

What are the chances the supported countries list will expand to include Moldova (Eastern Europe) in the foreseeable future? It somehow feels like it won't happen any time soon...

I can't provide any estimates because I don't have that information available. However, we're interested in adding support for additional countries as they become available with Adyen, the payment processor we're working with. We don't have direct control over which countries are supported by Adyen or in which priority they are added, though.

Moldova is a small country, so there is probably a greater chance for us to join EU in 5 years, than for Adyen to extend support to Moldova on their own, lol

That's what I'm using, I was hoping to switch to native payment system, as lots of people won't bother with 3rd party solutions they never heard about before.

Well I never heard about Adyen. First I thought it's a town in Yemen, then that maybe it's some Japanese ad company. For sure not some well known company, and as we see not a good choice for a company that sells world-wide...

Developers not using official payment channels struggle to gain visibility. While we are willing to register Garmin merchant accounts, regional restrictions prevent approval. Could Garmin increase Connect IQ exposure for non-affiliated developers before expanding supported regions?

Establishing a US/EU company for merchant eligibility would require prolonged timelines and annual costs exceeding $1,000, which is financially unfeasible.
