Is it possible to make a watch face with current temperature based on location?

I really like the stock digital watch face with battery life, day/date and sunrise/sunset - simple and provides most info I need. The one missing piece is current temperature. Is it possible to use the current temperature as is shown in the weather widget (which I believe is pulled from the phone based on location)?

The one other addition that would be cool is to have the progress towards steps shown around the perimeter using the hashmarks used for seconds in the stock digital face.
  • Neither GPS location nor communication (bluetooth) is available in a watch face.

That's too bad - although it's an option to show Bluetooth status on stock watchfaces, so there is some ability for watchfaces to at least acknowledge Bluetooth status
  • Yes, is a watchface it can check what is really called "phone connected" status, but can't actually do any communications by way of Bluetooth.
  • Anyone know whether Garmin has mentioned planned support for anything like this in the future?
  • Probably not, as watchfaces are very restricted in what they can do. As they run most to the time there is a big concern about battery usage. That's why in "low power" mode they can only update every minute. They have no access to "sensors" like GPS, Tempe, or the HRM, in addition to no ability to communicate with the phone or the internet.

I understand the concern about battery life, but they should give users the option to make that trade off. For me, if I can get ine week of battery life with current temperature on my watchface (like the Pebbles do with this feature), that's a fine trade off
  • That's what widgets are for. With a simple swipe on the watchface, you get things like the weather (though on a vivoactive, the standard weather widget is a bit funky!). I have my own widget/watch-app to get better data based on GPS location or a fixed location.

If you have something other than the VA, there is also a weather widget in the app store.
