Widget Request: Active Calories and/or Easy/Moderate/Intense activity level

I hate to say it, but the Easy/Moderate/Intense activity level labels on my old Suunto watch was more motivating than what the Vivoactive has, which is nothing but steps.

In fact, even the Apple Watch (I've just come to learn) has active calories that you can monitor daily and set goals.

I understand Garmin is limitting the amount of data available to developers, but is there any way to set up something like this???
  • Unfortunately, there isn't enough information in the ActivityMonitor module to tell where the calories came from. It sounds like there have been some requests to enhance this a bit, but there is no telling what information will be available at this time. Maybe one of the Garmin guys will speak up.

A widget or an app could theoretically pull the information from Garmin Connect. Unfortunately Garmin wants a $5000 application fee to *request* access the Garmin Connect API. If someone could convince me that I'd make back the amount of the fee and give me a guarantee that my request would be approved (or just give me access), I'd love to start writing some of these apps.

Thanks, Travis. You are definitely an asset to the Connect IQ ecosystem. If Garmin doesn't realize that and open up more data for you to make useful apps, they're going to risk losing a lot of customers to other brands.
