[REQUEST] Vertical data field?

Hello

I am interested in a vertical data field designed for a bike use. I find that when the watch is mounted into the bike I could get more information out from a single screen. Vertical data screen would enable the watch to display up to 8 (perhaps?) data fields, that would be actually readable for a user. What do you guys think and perhaps the most important question is, is it possible?

Thanks
  • It isn't clear exactly what you are suggesting. I _think_ you are asking if it would be possible to implement a single data field that displayed up to 8 different values on screen, and that the screen would be rotated 90° from normal so as to maximize the available screen space. Is that correct?

Without support from the underlying device, someone could create a font that is rotated, and then draw each character one at a time in the correct positions. My gut says it would be very slow, but could work. Even if it did work, as soon as you left that data field, you'd have to crane your neck around to read the screen. It would suck.

Yeah, I might have been unclear, but you got it right. The idea behind this is to have watch mounted vertically to the bike and have just one data screen with 8 data field on it. In that way you would not need to have other data screens so rotating your head every now and then would not be necessery, as you would have all your data displayed on a single vertically aligned screen.

I am curious if anyone got any other ideas how to make it possible?
  • Most folks that use wristwatches on bikes use something like this to keep the device oriented correctly. If you want to mount that to an aerobar, there are adapters like this one.

You could take a peek at this article as well to get some ideas.
