I've been working with a sport's nutritionist to improve my feeding/feuling during long (200+km) cycling events.
My idea is a CIQ app to track what I've eaten (and drunk) and when.
I have an Edge 1030, I'd like a widget I can setup that displays a series of buttons, when one is pressed, it records to a file (presumably the activity's FIT file), which button was pressed and when.
The buttons could be setup with things like Apple Energy Bar, Chocolate Energy Bar, Coffee Gel, Orange gel, Water, sports drink, etc. The idea being that before a ride, I setup buttons for each type of fuel I'm taking, and at the end of a ride, I can retrieve the information to pass onto the Nutritionist for further analysis.
I imagine that if there were minimal presumptions made about the button labels, this would be useful in other in ride contexts unrelated to feeding. To be useful in some contexts, the recording of distance as well as time could be beneficial.
This could be thought of as a specialised type of lap recording which is making notes about each "lap" during the event.
To date, I've used the lap marker and tried to remember what I've eaten between rest stops, and when I stop I write it down on a pen and paper I have in my jersey pocket. Not a great solution.
Other nice to have features:
- Being able to edit mid ride.
- Being able to type free from text.
Use case: I stop at a rest stop where they provide food. That's obviously food I've not setup a button for. So being able to record what it was. Also if I accidentally press a button I can remove the record.
- A data field to show what you've eaten to date, so you can review if you've not eaten enough to date. Again, a bit like the lap data page.
Thanks in advance to whoever develops this.
