Create a custom activity - Vivoactive

I've pulled the Recorder app from the app store temporarily. I plan to restore it as soon as I get some of the settings bugs worked out.

I'm sorry, but the list of activity types that I can support are limited. I can only support activity types and sub-types that are supported by ConnectIQ. That list can be found here.

just out of curiousity- how are you setting these activity types/names in Garmin Connect? Is it available as part of the drop down box?

Nevermins.. got my answer.. it's available but it's not available in the sDK per the link that Travis mentioned

I would really like a kayaking app. It would basically be a copy of the running app, showing the same information, but with a proper icon and recording the event directly as a kayaking (or padling) event. And if it can be done, make the watch stop counting steps while using this app.

Not possible to stop the steps counting.
As for app for kayaking - I'm not sure if it's in the list in the SDK. u can check the SDK documentation.
Best bet is the recorder app from Travis

Add New activity

Hi, I'm new to all this and I can't make head or tails of it. Apparently I can add a new activity. I bring up activities on the watch, select Add New, select Other then select a Colour then "apparently" I can Choose Name but I click on the name 'Other' and the next setting appears, GPS Settings. I click on Off for the GPS Setting and now, low and behold, the activity has been created, it's called 'Other', it's red and there's a round circle with three small circles inside it for the symbol. Is 'Choose Name' just there for fun?

Add New activity

Hi, I'm new to all this and can't make head or tails of it. I bring up the activities list on the watch, scroll down and select Add New. Then I select Other, choose a Colour and the next screen is titled Choose Name. What are my options here, other than tapping on the name 'Other' which is already there and being taken to the GPS Settings screen to select a GPS setting which thereby completes the exercise of creating a new activity, resulting in the activity showing up in the activity list as a red circle with three dots inside labelled Other? i.e. Is 'Choose Name' just there to tease us?
