Thirded! I would like a simple app that is not unlike the other outdoor sport apps, as long as i can get heart rate, speed/pace, distance, time.. then it's all good. So maybe just a clone of walking but with activity type set to Kayaking/Paddling Currently I do just us walking but it then gets posted to strava etc as a walk and so equipment and calories etc are all wrong.
Rowing/ Padeling app!! I dont have the knowhow but...
Speling english is kind of hard at times, please beer with me and respekt my miss-speling and errors in linguistik thingis. After all i am swedish and blond and wellhanged so i did´t have mutch time to styde when i went to school.
This summer has bean really "cold" and cloudy. This monday i started working after 4 weaks of a rainy weekation. Sun was shining after work on my way home. The goal was set out for going out kajaking for the first time this summer!
On my way home i had the sun in my eys all the way knowing that my sunglasses was home! (they haven´t been used all summer either... almost :-/
Well at home i throwed in the food i picked up on my way home in the fridge and caried the kajak to the car. drowe down to the sea and was in the water 35 minutes after i first got home. (That got to be some qind of world record becasus i also went serching for my paddle, witch i fond in my neighbors outhous, he borrowed it last fall...hrmm... I clame WR 35 minutes!
anyhow!
Well in the kajak i realised that this got to be loged some how with my fenix3!
I logged my paddeling as a trailrun! wredikulus. I hawe allways thought that i got a padeling app... I don´t!
I started looking in to how to make one and realised that i dont know how to write coode... but i have a few ideas of what to expect of it and can defenetly be in a test group for it.
What i thin chould be in the app is preatly simpel and straight forward.
Basic thingis in the app
positioning grom the GPS
Heart rate from HRM-RUN or other device.
Cadence from the sensors in the watch (pure logic)
Speed Km/h or Miles/h - and of course Knots - this is a app for use at the sea after all.
Distans / tempo in warios ways ( mutch like the outdoor runing app.)
Cool futures
Wave hight - a hard one but maybe the fenix sensors is good enough to ''feel'' the wake/wawes
Wave speed and angle - there schould be posible to calculate the wawe speed if wave high works. It is probably posible to make a calculation using heading - speed - wawe tops time - and your starsign. probbably preaty hard to calculate.
For those SUPers there chould probably be a awerebility in the app for right/left strokes. It is possibly a quite different movement patern in kajak-SUP-Grannys old rowingboat-the rowingmachine in the gym.
tide is a cool thing - maybe a warning future also?
Is there a programer out there who knows how to make something like this?
Yes, absolutely a rowing function would be really amazing - getting a stroke rate off the accelerometer would be nice, but really all I would want is speed/pace, total distance rowed along with heart rate ... and to not have the watch think that I have a marathon runner's VO2max, because it thinks I'm running six minute miles.
Failing that, is there at least some possibility of connecting the watch up to my Concept 2, like I used to be able to with my old watch?
I'm into SUP (stand-up paddling) and need something for the Vivoactive that will record effort etc. Given I see a heap of Garmin SUP Groups, I think there must be a big audience for such an app. I currently have to use 'Walking' and then change it 'Paddling' in Garmin Connect. The walking app does record distance and the GPS track so that's a positive but it has no idea of 'steps' vs 'strokes'. There is a rowing app but it is far too specific to measured distances and pace.
I'm not up to writing code but I am hoping someone out there is. It seems to me if there is a fencing app, surely we can get a paddling app!
Info needed-
1. GPS recording
2. Distance
3. Time
4. Strokes
5. Pace m/sec
6. Calories
I would really like a kayaking app. It would basically be a copy of the running app, showing the same information, but with a proper icon and recording the event directly as a kayaking (or padling) event. And if it can be done, make the watch stop counting steps while using this app.
