Guitar tuner PRG

Hi all,

As a player myself, I would find it handy to have the ability on the watch....I can always tune a guitar.....but need the right key, with a tuner or an app its much easier......I would love this on my wrist in the form of a widget or app.

Implementation ideas

You could have the sound processor emit six notes, with a corresponding screen image of the note key.( design ideas?)
could be expanded to other string instruments in the future.
Standard tuning defines the string pitches as E, A, D, G, B, and E, from lowest (low E2) to highest (high E4).

Thanks for reading,
All the best,
Sam.
  • Haha, nice to hear! And yeah, gonna look into the possibility to let ppl assign their own notes/tones... Might solve a lot of possible future issues/complaint ;)

btw, could also be that my own guitar was slightly out of tune of course making me a bit confused with the notes.

Generally the tones should match between devices, but it is possible for a device to modify their tone for a particular notification if the product managers have reason to do so.

The accuracy of the tones may vary based on the accuracy of the clock being used to drive the piezo on the device, and the sound reproduction quality of the part.

    Thanks for clearing that up!

I guess my conclusion is, indeed let each user set their own tones to correspond with 'notes of choice' ;)
  • FlipStone,

I too play guitar and have taken special interest in this app! It was suggested to me that a developer might be able to filter out frequencies using high speed accel data in the newer watched that support it. You would just have to put the watch on the head like one of those clip on tuners. Another option that I was thinking about is something that gets real time data from a companion mobile app. The app would listen to the frequencies through the phone speaker and communicate through the mobile SDK to use the watch as a display for the tuner info. You could do the same thing without an partner app with something like the Nordic Thingy:52 and a generic ANT channel. It has a mic and speaker on board as well as a humidity sensor so you could manage humidity levels in your guitar case too. Okay...I've ranted now...

  • Haha, I like the idea about the accel data! Does the 935 support it? The watch would have to tightened on the head though I'd imagine...

About the companion app option, then I'd just suggest a tuner application on the phone ;)

The idea I liked was just having this with you all the time (that would rule out the companion hardware too) and as an alternative to a phone tuner. Also, just because it was fun!

But I also kinda forgot about this one (other projects and things such as work required my attention), will see if I can at least implement the 'assign your own notes to your own tones' thing.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
