Easy Access to watchface Help

When developing a watchface you can also include a link to a url in your settings file to enable a help button on the settings screen. This Help button is not very obvious to users and it would be good if we could also have a 'Help' button on the same screen as the settings button. Perhaps a helpurl attribute at the <settings> level could control the display of this button and the associated url ?

Also when a user sends an email to a developer it comes from [email protected] with the users email address embedded as a reply address. Most auto responders will try to respond to the sent email address rather than the reply address. Could the 'from' address be changed to the reply address to make it easier to set up an auto-reply ? That way I could send users a link to the FAQ associated with the app until I can respond directly.

Thanks

  • I've never seen having a URL in settings for help before, so I downloaded one of your apps. On Android, I just see it as a URL I can tap with no indication of what it is for BTW. I'm really not sure this would be that common, and would likely require a separate .json in the store to raise "help" to the same level as the settings button.

If I need a help file for app settings, my gut reaction, to be honest, would be to simply the settings.. Users will usually catch that part of the the description in the store before "--more--" and some the info after that. Having them click on something else might not work that great. And you'll still get "Contact Developer" messages about things.

For the auto responder, it seem you need to find a new one that handles "reply to". In the case of "Contact Developer" there is a "reply to", but you'll also get emails from noreply for a new review in the store, etc. For me, my email in the store isn't my primary email address, so that alone provides a separation. I can set "vacation" on my real email for example.
