A simple app that just records time spent doing the activity. Maybe one that's "Other" and you can choose weights or yoga or something. Or one for each. Thanks.
You just want to select the activity type and then start/stop the timer? Is it not sufficient to just create a custom activity profile with gps disabled on your device? The only thing I see that this application would provide is a way to skip changing the activity type on Garmin Connect after uploading.
Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't want to have to go in and change activity details after uploading. Seems like an unnecessary waste of time for lots of people.
Also, Travis, I'm not a programmer. If no one wants to make these custom apps, how can I create a custom activity profile on my watch as you mentioned?
If that's possible, it would at least be better than my current system, which is not to use the watch and then go into Garmin Connect afterwards and manually create an activity.
I don't think it would be incredibly difficult to create a single app to allow the user to select an activity type and record any activity. I'd be happy to do it, provided that people realize that the functionality provided is minimal. In this case all the app does is allow them to set the activity type. I'm not even sure if Garmin Connect observes the data if it is present, but there is really only one way to find out.
I don't know what device you have, I did some looking and only the 920 supports both apps and custom activity profiles. Even then it only supports a few of them, so this particular suggestion isn't incredibly useful to you (unless you have a 920 and want yoga and weight lifting to show up as activities with the activity type set to Other.
I have a vivoactive. Is there no way to create an app for the vivoactive that chooses one of the Garmin Connect profiles already in existence? For instance, Weight training is one of the existing profiles in Garmin Connect. Yoga is not, but I label it as "Other", which is a choice.
I think this kind of app, even though it seems really basic and minimal, will be very appreciated because the kind of people who choose the vivoactive over the Fenix 3 and 920 are less triathletes and more all around fitness people. That would be my guess. So apps for other activities, just to record them, would be good.
Hi guys. If I may add a wish. It would be cool to have an app for weight lifting where you have a stopwatch to measure the workout/break time and a heart rate monitor to trace the current heart rate during the strength workout.
