Installation of connect iq and eclipse xml

Hope I get this posted in the right spot. I tried to install eclipse on Win10 and the site won't download / install because my java is not the correct version. I had JDK/JRE 1.8 installed as noted but the site still doesn't see it. Does the JDK have to be installed in the same location? I used the default install.

I tried it again from scratch and had several failures. I did finally get the start window for eclipse but when trying to download the url in the documentation "developer.garmin.com/.../" I get HTTP Server Unknown HTTP response code (301):http://developer.garmin.com/downloads/connect-iq/eclipse/content.xml. I'm trying to do this on my Mac again.

The URL for the plug-in update site should be "https://developer.garmin.com/downloads/connect-iq/eclipse/". At some point the developer website was updates so every page was only accessible via HTTPS and the Programmer's Guide distributed with the SDK didn't get updated along with that. I've pushed up a change to update the Programmer's Guide.
