Sailing-App for Fenix 3 with BlueChart-Connection

Hi,
I would appreciate to have a Sailing-App for the Fenix 3. It would be great to have an App which shows the Position in Degrees and Minutes like N 54°34'84 E 8°45'455, the speed in knots and the distance in nautical mile. Although these App should have an anchor alarm and a man over bord function. A Tide Table would be great.
A great feature would also be the possibility to interact with the Garmin GPS Map Plotter to get some more infos like the wind speed or depth over ground.
Additionally these functions could be tracked to the BlueChart-App.

Regards
  • It IQ app distance to start gives good enough starting line information as it has range and bearing

You do realize to fully use a Quatix requires some pretty costly hardware to fully integrated with the boats systems which also need to be Garmin and there still a pretty minor player in the sailboat game

Not in Europe they aren't. Here Garmin is very common on yachts of all sizes, as well as motor yachts. While there is a module required to interface the systems it's peanuts compared to the plotter already present.
  • In the USA Garmin is very Big in handhelds and company's like Raymarine, Furuno ,Lowrance (The first to push 2000 in a big way) B&G and many many others rule the sailboat world

Garmin was lacking in the wind instrument field until very recently and it remains to be seen if they can gain market share as there basic wind system has come to market at a very good price point

I'm a little surprised to see Raymarine and B&G on that list for the USA, B&G especially unless it's been adopted since being purchased.

I am another user who would love this...

I have a Vivoactive, and would love to have an app that displayed speed in knots, max speed in knots, distance travelled in knots, AND tracked your GPS path...

I know there's a Nautical Data data field plug in, but it's not stand-alone (as even that would be a good start)...

If someone has the skills to do so...please do so! :) Cheers!
  • Distance travelled should be in Nautical Miles, knots is a measurement of speed (Nautical miles per hour). This is something that's broken on the Fenix 3, it shows some weird measurement like nautical km which is meaningless.

    Sailing Application

Hello together, I have assembled a sailing application and would be happy if some of you test it. The forum thread regarding the app is http://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?313106-Application-Sailing

    Hiya, what was the feedback?

In general, does anybody (INC GARMIN) have any updates as to whether an app has been created for the Fenix 3 to be used for sailing?

    Thanks
