Hi there,
Maybe an app could do that?
(start the app, enter sea level pressure, that's it: the altimeter is calibrated!!!)
Would an app be able to set the current elevation in a Fenix 3 watch? (Equivalent to manual altimeter calibration)
This is about a new feature lacking in your Fenix 3 watches and +.
IT SHOULD be implemented in Fenix 3 watches and + because:
-super useful!
-super easy to develop for Garmin!
-will work on all Altimeter-Baro watches!
To me it is the single most annoying detail missing.
I currently use the AirPressure widget (by thebigbadwolf_1)(along with excel) to estimate my altitude from the "sea pressure I get from the Weather station". What I do is 1-Get the SeaP from Weather Info; 2-Get the CurrentAtmP from the AirPressure widget; 3-Calculate the Elevation in Excel; 4-Calibrate Altimeter on the watch. I would love to be able to calibrate my altimeter directly using the "sea pressure I get from the Weather station" (no Excel!!!). The formula is: Elevation = =(288.15/(CurrentAtmP/SeaP)^-0.190266-288.15)/-0.0065 (P in Pascals and Elevation in meters) Thanks!
I use to do that all the time on the Core by Suunto...
I can send you my excel file, it has the formulas and explanations. The formula is good up to about 10,000m (more than Everest...)
