Export GPS app to Android phone

Hi all,

I was wondering if it's possible (i.e. if the API provides the right tools) to build an app (in particular for the VivoActive HR) that transfers one or more gps tracks to an Android phone (without going through the cloud). I am very disappointed that Garmin Connect Mobile does not allow this, and I was wondering if it is an intrinsic limitation of the API, or if it can be done. It would be very useful to be able to import tracks in offline mapping software widely available on Android.

This could for example replace (and greatly improve) the laudable but obviously very limited mapping widgets/apps available on Connect IQ Store.

I have some programming experience, and I'd be willing to spend some time learning Monkey C and the API and try to build such app myself; however, I'd like to know if there some intrinsic limitation first, so I don't waste time after something that cannot be done.
(Obviously, if someone feels inspired and wants to give it a try, I'd be super happy! :) ).

Thanks

Giacomo
