[REQUEST] apps for Crossfit

I was curious if one of you could develop what i think would be a couple pretty basic apps that would make the F3 a useful tool for Crossfit.

1) An AMRAP Timer. (Basically a countdown timer with a lap counter) AMRAP = As Many Rounds As Possible
So for example, the user would want to do a workout where he/she does as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes. The app would need to be able to set a 10 minute timer. While the timer is counting down from 10 minutes, the user would press a button as he/she completed rounds. The watch would then set off an alarm at the end of the 10 minutes and display the amount of rounds completed.

A couple of thoughts....
- the length of the timer would need to be something the user could set...10 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.
- the alarm at the end of the countdown should use as many alerts as possible, audio, vibrate, flash screen, etc. but also be user selectable as to which ones to use.
- during the activity, you should be able to see the countdown timer and the number of rounds completed.
- would you be able to add a 10 second countdown before the timer starts. for example...once you press start on a 10 minute workout...the watch counts down 10 seconds to give you time to set up for the start. it would also be helpful to get a short audio alert on 3...2...1...and then a longer alert for GO.

2) An AMRAP Counter. (Basically a stopwatch with a lap counter)
This would function exactly like the above timer except that instead of a countdown timer, the clock would just keep running. When the user hits the stop button, He/she would want to see how many rounds were completed and the time it took to complete them.

Thank you for your help. please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. And on behalf of all the Crossfitters out there...THANK YOU!!!!!!

Hi, I just got my vivoactive a couple days ago. I love crossfit app. However, I do I set more than 0 round? Mine was default to 1:00 and 0 round. I was able to set time by going to Period. Where can I go to set round numbers?

    Thanks

The purpose of the app is to count your rounds while working out.

Hi, I got vivoactive with v2.6. I installed your app. Love the idea it can count lap and doing timer. But I could not get round counting work. Vivoactive only has one button on the right. Help. Thanks.
  • Press the enter button to start/stop the timer. When the timer is running, the back/lap button counts reps/laps, otherwise it causes the app to exit.

I could easily add support for screen taps if someone thought it was necessary. I'm guessing if I do that though, people are going to want the option to disable them and I'd have to add a menu to support that.

    Crossfit App recommendation

Travis - this AMRAP app is great. Thank you for creating it! I have a few recommendations for either expanded capabilities of this app or a separate app entirely.

The fenix 3 has an "intervals mode" but you can only do it with "stock" apps like running/biking. Many Crossfit WODs require intervals or rounds that are pre-determined. Tabata, fight gone bad, etc. Right now, I don't think the watch has this feature.

Here is the app I currently use for workouts like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ihunda.android.hiit

If it is possible to set up this type of capability on the watch it would be fantastic. Thanks!

  • Yes, this is the generic programmable workout app that I've been talking about adding. My first priority is a project that belongs to someone else. My second project is the simple activity recorder, and my third is the programmable workout app. I've just recently found a bug in ConnectIQ that prevents me from getting the activity recorder to work as I'd like, so I may start on the programmable workouts this weekend.

    Awesome, thanks!
  • I would like to use this, but I cannot. It really needs to have the ability to auto restart or repeat once the time set has completed. Without that, one has to manually restart the timer and if you are doing say an EMOM or AMRAP, you don't have time to restart your watch over and over again manually after every say 1 minute. The timer needs to start again at the end of the time (1:00 in my case) without any interaction needed. On top of that, the ability to count completed "laps" - each 1:00 in my case it completes - would be great as then I could see, for example, with no interaction but a start and stop how many 1:00 "laps" I did.

As it is, these are pretty much basic stop watches or chrono watches one can build already - and I did - in the Fenix with my own custom activity. But yours has the ability to be a little cleaner if one could set a time, have it repeat, keep the time, and count the "laps".

I think you missed the simple intent of this app. It was not designed for EMOMs or Tabatas. It is a simple AMRAP counter that you can set the count down time for and count your reps/rounds. It is very useful if you are like me and can never keep up with how many rounds your have done. It is very similar to a stop watch, but much cleaner and purpose built (round counter, 3-2-1-GO countdown timer, etc)

That being said, I think an EMOM timer would also be very cool and simple app to develop.

    Dear Travis,

Thank you for your apps. They are very useful.
Could you also add a tabata timer?
I think that that would make another popular app among crossfitters.

    Kind regards Jeroen
