[REQUEST] apps for Crossfit

I was curious if one of you could develop what i think would be a couple pretty basic apps that would make the F3 a useful tool for Crossfit.

1) An AMRAP Timer. (Basically a countdown timer with a lap counter) AMRAP = As Many Rounds As Possible
So for example, the user would want to do a workout where he/she does as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes. The app would need to be able to set a 10 minute timer. While the timer is counting down from 10 minutes, the user would press a button as he/she completed rounds. The watch would then set off an alarm at the end of the 10 minutes and display the amount of rounds completed.

A couple of thoughts....
- the length of the timer would need to be something the user could set...10 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.
- the alarm at the end of the countdown should use as many alerts as possible, audio, vibrate, flash screen, etc. but also be user selectable as to which ones to use.
- during the activity, you should be able to see the countdown timer and the number of rounds completed.
- would you be able to add a 10 second countdown before the timer starts. for example...once you press start on a 10 minute workout...the watch counts down 10 seconds to give you time to set up for the start. it would also be helpful to get a short audio alert on 3...2...1...and then a longer alert for GO.

2) An AMRAP Counter. (Basically a stopwatch with a lap counter)
This would function exactly like the above timer except that instead of a countdown timer, the clock would just keep running. When the user hits the stop button, He/she would want to see how many rounds were completed and the time it took to complete them.

Thank you for your help. please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. And on behalf of all the Crossfitters out there...THANK YOU!!!!!!
  • I approved these earlier this morning. :)

Travis...Nice work!! these are great! a couple questions...

    1) on the timer. i see it is defaulted to countdown from 1 minute. how do you change the countdown time? for example...if i wanted to do a 15 minute workout.
    2) when i scroll through my widgets, my watch seems to get "stuck" on the counter widget. i can press the back button to escape...but i can't scroll to the next widget.

also...this is a small request...but instead of saying "repeats" could it say "Rounds". (that is more in line with CrossFit terminology)

    Thanks.
  • Any chance of having the original app with both functionalities selectable? Thanks
  • I need to test the binaries I built on the 920XT again. I had intended for them to come out as watch-apps, but I may have accidentally uploaded them as widgets (I was testing both). It sounds like I uploaded the widgets, which means that the menu keys don't work. You should have been able to change the default value by holding the Menu button to access the settings. Unfortunately the menu button doesn't work correctly on the 920XT at the moment.

I'll fix both issues when I get home from work tonight.

Yeah, I can send you the file.
  • Yeah, I uploaded the apps as widgets, and that is not what I had intended to do. I had to pull the apps and re-upload them, which means they will have to be re-approved. I updated the field label from 'Repeats' to 'Rounds' and updated the version to 1.0.1.

Again, feel free to comment here or post a review once the apps re-appear in the App store.

I have a suggestion, how about 1 app to auto count series of time! Like the others above but when reach to 0 he give 5 sec to change exercise and put 1 more to the Counter and restart the timer. I really need something like that for monster abdominals exercises.
    Example:
I want make 5 different abdominal exercises, each exercise max times in 30 sec. after that i have 5 sec. to change positions and Start the new exercise for more 30sec. The counter will be each exercise and the timer, the time i have to make the max number of repetitions.

    Its possible?
  • If you don't want to count the number of reps, then you could easily do this with the built-in interval training stuff. A simple workout with 5x 30s interval+5s rest would do the trick for the above scenario.

My only issue is that it doesn't seem to something that a lot of people will use. If you really wanted an app for this, it wouldn't be difficult. All you want is to configure the time interval (30s in your example), the break between exercises (5s), the number of times to repeat, and then a count of the number of reps completed for each interval?

The break time is the ideal but not very important, the important is at the end of the 30sec. he count the rep. and start again automatically the 30Sec. again the number of reps i want.
It's very annoying push the buttons all the time and waste time.
Hope get some app like this. :-/
