Skiers Datafield

Winter is coming and the snow is falling in the those high peaks of the northern hemisphere.

Am I the only skier who has just bought a fenix 3 and realised that there is no useful datafield for skiing? It cannot be that difficult since there are many free, or cheap, apps for smartphones that tell you everything and more.

As an avid skier who spends weeks in the white stuff it would be brilliant to have that information on your wrist. Help anybody?

Add Skiing profile to your device

Hi, thanks for that but the skiing profile is pretty basic. There are some great hiking, running and cycling datafields out there but zero for skiing. There must be plenty of scope to do better.

Is there something specific you'd like to see. There are a number of developers around here that might put something together if you can describe a cool data field.

I have skied with the Skiing profile that is built into the Fenix, and the data fields available there, and I can't think of anything super interesting that isn't there already. (e.g. Run Counting, Total Decent)

Hi Brian, many thanks for considering my suggestion. What would be great is a single data field that is clearly visible with all you need without flipping through views which is difficult if your are wearing ski gloves.

As a starter and would welcome other comments,

    Time of day
Altitude gain and loss plus current altitude
Distance covered, average pace and runs
    Battery %

Nice to haves if possible:- Temperature and heading

    Many thanks

  • In addition:

    maximum speed
    maximum altitude
    number of runs
    maximum slope

Pretty much all the data I get from e.g. SkiTracks (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ski-tracks/id365724094?mt=8).

I suspect that one needs a dedicated application to run all the calculations as opposed to a a simple data field.
