Widget compatibility with other watch models

Sorry in case I made a mistake but I have serious doubts about one thing and I have no idea about Monkey C or programming. My question is the following:

I have a Fenix 6x. I am interesting in a widget on the Garmin iq store that is available for Fenix 7x. I tried contact the developer to propose him the possibility to make it available for my watch model without any success, but I realize that the program code is available at Github.

Make the app to work in my 6x is as easy to download the program from Github, open the project on the VS and change the model compatibility to 6x? or it require additional programming work?

It depends. If the code is maintained and updated regularly, then adding the support for your model and compiling is all you need. You can then side-load the app even without submitting to the store.

However, the SDK frequently changes, and the code may require some adjustments, if it was not maintained for a longer time. You could also try compiling it with the original SDK version, but then you may not be able enabling newer devices.

Yes , the app is new 2 month old. Thanks for your response. Now the problem that I have is trying to understand how to do it :) any beginner guide is available ?
