Simple DataField

Hi, I'm an interested layman and I would like to ask if there's an easy way just to display the information from following url https://aareguru.existenz.ch/v2018/current?city=thun&version=1.0.42&values=aare.temperature (current water temperature of a river in a specific city) with a SimpleDataField on my Instinct 2 watch (when connected to the smartphone with internet access)?

The live information is also available as curl: curl -X GET "">aareguru.existenz.ch/.../current -H "accept: */*"

A CIQ data field can't directly make web requests, it can only do so through a background service (which can't run any more frequently than once every 5 minutes.)

Once every 5 minutes is enough. What kind of background service do you mean?

TL;DR there's example code but it won't work on a real device because Garmin doesn't like the HTTPS certificate for that site.

You’d need to have your phone with you for the watch to connect to the website.

How often would you need to use this? Why not just use the phone?

Seems like a waste of effort.

Well, I was curious about the topic. But since it‘s not that easy, I gave up at this point.

On the iphone you can easily create a shortcut, that gives you the information (like a pop up) without having to open the browser and the website… done in 5 minutes. Thanks a lot for all the help FlowState!
