Hi guys,
Question for the ConnectIQ gods that be, if someone could point them in this direction. I am wondering if there are any plans to introduce the ability to pair a BLE device that requires a PIN into the BLE API at any stage in the future?
Granted alot of sensors etc only supply basic information and don't really need to worry about security, however, there are a lot of applications outside of sports sensors, especially for standalone developers trying to utilise the platform, where access to particular characteristic requires a PIN, usually characteristics that offer 'high value' control over the device or its functionality.
In this day and age where security is a big focus it seems inappropriate to expose this level of access through insecure characteristic or expect developers to re-jig existing solutions to provide work arounds where PIN protected pairing is built into the standard itself and has been for some time. Yeah sure it can be done, but it could be so much easier.
Would love to hear others thoughts and get some discussion going around this.
Cheers,
Matt
