PAID: Looking for a developer for PoC app

Firstly - apologies if this isn't allowed here - I did a quick search and it looks like it's been allowed before.

I'm chasing a developer to help me code up a quick PoC app to run on my fenix 6X Pro and connect to custom hardware I have developed. The app will be required to connect to an ESP32 embedded in my own hardware. I have the UUIDs, communications protocols etc that I can provide. The watch will turn on/off a few outputs on the hardware by sending a small comms packet - containing the custom device's BLE address + the setting in bitmask. Ie. 1 = output 1 on, 2 = output 2 on, 3 = o1 and o2 on, 0 = all output off. Ideally - it will also receive a notification with the devices status.

I have written the firmware for this hardware, as well as the Android and iOS apps that that talk to it, so I can provide code in other languages to get started and pointed in the right direction. I wrote my first Monkey C app recently which is on the CIQ Store, Lightning Distance Calculator - https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/06dd47c0-f671-431d-bf30-cb7d4ccd246f, however, BLE is a bit outside my wheelhouse on this one and with work firing back up, I simply do not have time to learn etc.

I'd expect someone half savvy with Monkey C to be able to knock this over pretty quickly and I am happy to pay you for your work.
This PoC does NOT have to be pretty, as long as the BLE stuff is working. I am happy to tidy things up as long as I have working BLE comms. This is not for commercial purposes - more just keen to see whether or not this can actually be done on the Fenix (or other Garmin's, but I have a Fenix 6X). IF successful, there is potential scope for some commercial work if both parties are interested on taking it further. I have excellent ratings on Upwork and can provide work references if required.

Doing a CIQ app really shouldn't be that complex. There are two NordicThingy52 samples in the sdk, Here's a blog post I did about using a raspberry pi with a BLE app.

There are things to consider on the sensor end. In CIQ, it's a limited implementation of BLE, like at most 3 services, and sending at most 22 bytes of data. Also, not all devices can be seen in CIQ, and not everything you need may be visible. Here's a test app that allows you to see what you see advertised. The first step is to verify that CIQ can even see your sensor. With the app, you can also try pairing/connecting to it. You can not try to send or receive data with it though. Things like services and characteristics aren't leaned and the CIQ app needs them in a profile.

Hi Jim,

Appreciate the quick reply. I have a few other projects on the go, so don't have a lot of time to dedicate to it but would love to see it done.

RE Functionality - no problems. I think the app would fit into those constraints - 1 Service, 2 Characteristics. I can confirm that BLEScan can scan and pick up the device and I can connect to it - so that's the first hurdle over with.
