Toggle vibration on/off widget for Vivoactive

As the vivoactive has no automatic 'do not disturb mode' for suppressing the vibration alert overnight whilst sleeping the only way to turn off vibrations at night is to either manually go in to settings and turn off vibration or disable alerts, alternatively you can manually enable sleep mode on the device but that overrides the automatic sleep detection.

So, how about a simple widget that toggles the vibration on/off?

Thanks in advance :)
  • Unfortunately, ConnectIQ doesn't allow system wide settings to be changed. Some things can be enabled/disabled (sensors, gps, ...), but the changes only apply to the app.

What you are asking for would require a native app provided by Garmin.

    Thanks for the update.

I have submitted a request to Garmin as well but I won't hold my breath on them doing anything about it.

Yeah should be something we can get. I have been woken up by my watch a few times now. Very annoying..

    Bump

Just checking in to see in any of the recent updates to CIQ have opened up the possibility for this feature.

    Thanks.
  • No, and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it. As I understand it, this was a design decision from the beginning.

    Thanks Travis.

Poor decision on Garmin's part. If only they could properly implement sleep mode so that it automatically silenced the watch as well. Luckily I am a heavy sleeper so it is only an occasional annoyance.

In PDF manual's Introduction section you can read:
You can use do not disturb mode to turn off tones, vibrations, and the backlight for alerts and notifications. For example, you can use this mode while sleeping or watching a movie.
NOTE: The device automatically enters do not disturb mode during normal sleep hours

When activated, automatic sleep detection is disabled ?

The way I understand it, on some watches during your configured sleep/wake times, DnD is automatically turned on (like the va-hr), on some, you can configure it so that DnD will come on during configured sleep time (the fr230), and on some, there is no DnD mode (the va). And "Automatic sleep detection" is used in all cases, for times close to you're configured sleep times. (if you're configuration is from 10pm to 6am, it won't "automatically" detect it if you fall asleep at 6pm for example, as it's far enough from your sleep time, it thinks you are just being lazy....)

OK, makes sense as I have VA-HR. Can't say about other models.
