Build application for contactless cards like NFC to be used with Garmin watch?

In Athens, Greece public transport is accessed with contactless cards, probably NFC.

Is there a possibility to build an application and use contactless cards through the watch. In this case, to access the public transport with the watch.

I have the Venu.

I have a strong suspicion that Garmin doesn't expose the NFC stuff for security/reliability reasons.

There is no way to use NFC in a Connect IQ app.

Because Garmin doesn't expose all the functionality of the watch to Connect IQ, for their own reasons.

I don't know the inner workings and technology of a Garmin watch, and what I cannot understand is that since there is Garmin pay which works with NFC cards, why a Connect IQ app cannot be built to work with NFC cards?
