RoadBook reader for Garmin Tread or ZUMO XT

Garmin Tread and Zumo XT and Overlander are great nawigations systems for on road and off road tracks.

With world digitalization even rallys like Dakar will switch to digital roadbook in the near future.

I wonder if garmin developers are thinking about and feature for above devices to read digital roadbook which is nothing else than long PDF.

Interface with pdf and two customizable metrometers will be a step ahead for amatour rally riders like myself.

  • This is definatelly very interesting ! At the moment I own a Garmin Montana 700i which is 2 in 1 (GPS navigation + inReach). Would love to be able to follow my friends with the functionality available on Garmin Tread (then it would be 3 in 1) ... if a roadbook reader functionality can be added it would be the best one could dream of (4 in 1). The more people interested in this the more likely Garmin will see it as valuable and prioritize development !

  • This is very interesting for me too! Can anybody help us? Many people in Spain are buying tablets as roadbook readers. If Garmin devices were ready to do it...

  • Seems like a tablet, being larger and having more pixels, is a much better choice for this purpose.

Given that (seems likely) people might want to see the GPS info and the roadbook info at the same time, using two devices  would make more sense anyway.

I don't know if there's a standard format for these. It looks like they might generally be PDF files. The Garmins won't be able to display PDFs. So, some other format (a bitmap image?) would have to be used, which might not work so well.

(I could see needing two screens on a motorcycle wouldn't be convenient.)
