Tea Timer app

An watch app with predefined set of timers (scrollable list), which would trigger long vibrating alarm even when "running in background".

Tea Timer widget:

  • pros: Easily accessible via up or down gesture on watch face.
  • cons: Unfortunately, Garmin forces widgets to disapper after a time out.
  • cons: Widget continues to run in background, but it cannot trigger a long alarm (vibration). I get only a short vibration and an offer to display the widget.

Timer Plus watch app:

  • pros: It can stay in foreground and trigger a long vibrating alarm.
  • cons: Only a single timer (the last one) exists.
  • cons: If I push it to background, it does not vibrate when the timer passes.
  • cons: Confusing UI (it mixes timer and stopwatch functionality).

Built in timer in "Controls":

  • pros: no matter if it runs in backround or foreground, it can trigger a long vibrating alarm.
  • cons: only a single timer (the last one used) exists.

It seems that Garmin is trying hard to block 3rd party developers to produce a timer which would work flawlessly, yet I hope there is a chance to get one.

That part, as you have surmised, is currently impossible.
