Covid-19 Temperature Based Early Warning System - Volunteer Connect Devs needed.

Hi All. My company is in the process of testing a Covid-19 Early Warning System based on body temperature. At a high level it's a digital thermometer connected to a watch or phone, with the temperature along with HR, SPO2 etc being sent to a cloud based monitoring platform. We're looking for a Garmin Connect developer to volunteer some time to help develop our solution for the Garmin platform. A week ago this was just an idea, tomorrow a working solution on iOS and Android is being persented to clinicians for use by front line medical staff. This is not a commercial venture for us. We're just doing our bit to help flatten the curve. Any skilled Garmin Connect developers willing to donate sometime to this global cause? Thank you. Ian

It wouldn't just be adding calls in the API. It would be changes in all the FW to make the info available.

The body temp is also missing.

Hi Bodya. Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the delay in replying. Here's a link to a media release we put out on Sunday that got great coverage. We still have not begun work on a Garmin version of it. We're very interested to learn if Garmin supports SP02 tracking. Connect IQ (how this app world be written) doesn't have access to SP02 data from the watch,

But I have serious doubts CIQ API allows to read Pulse Oximetry for third party apps / widgets. Going to research it more deeply. Also, I believe Garmin can react to these days challenge with Covid fighting and quickly update API to make SPO2 readings available for third party apps.

Correct. It would be done by way of Connect IQ in this case, and not possible.

The FW can and does see it, and does things based on it, but it's not transmitted nor is it exposed in CIQ.

Also, while Garmin devices have an internal; temperature sensor, that's the device temperature, not the body temperature nor the ambient temperature. It's the temperature of the air in the watch and used by the baro altimeter.

I see, Jim and thanks for the deeper explanation. I don't work on the technical side of our business, but am looking for a way to get this solution onto as many frontline wrists as possible. That widget just displays counts pulled from other sites and does no detection.
