WEIGHT - Entry

It would be essential (and nice), if one could enter the daily weight on the watch.

In the morning after getting up, I always weight and it would be very convenient to enter the weight right in the bathroom. No trends or anything required, just enter weight.
  • CIQ today doesn't allow changing any user or device settings on the watch.

But, in setting on the watch itself, you can set your weight under user settings.

Also, you can set your weight in Garmin Connect, and it will sync over to the watch, and also give you a graph of your weight history.

The way I do it actually doesn't require me to enter my weight anywhere - it's automatic. I have a withings scale that sends my data to withings when I step off the scale, I have withings linked to MyFitnessPal, and MyFitnessPal linked to Garmin Connect.

So, I step off my scale, withings gets the data, passes it on to MFP, and the data is then passed on to GC, and gets to the watch next time I sync. To get from Withings to Garmin Connect usually is done by the time I get dressed, so we're talking just a few minutes, and you have graphs of your weight history, how you're doing based on your goal, BMI, etc...
  • It seems important to know what the you want to do with this data.

If all you want is to enter your weight into the watch and do nothing with it, that would be trivial. That is just an app that accepts input using a number picker. It wouldn't be useful other than to satisfy some compulsion to press buttons on your watch.

If you want the weight you enter to change the weight used by the watch for its calculations, that isn't something that you can do (as Jim pointed out above). ConnectIQ doesn't currently allow apps to change the weight set on the device. If you want to change that, you'll have to dig through the menus (My Stats > User Profile > Weight on a fr920xt) and do it there.

If you want the data to be uploaded to Garmin Connect, it could be done. The easy way would require the developer to have a license to use the Garmin Connect web service ($5000). Another way would be to send the data off to some other web service (maybe MyFitnessPal, or something else) that can sync data back to Garmin Connect.
