Posting scores and stats to GHIN

  1. I have been following a request on the garmin golf watch S62 forum for quite a few months and that request has gotten zero traction so I thought I should post it here instead.
  2. All Garmin golf users should have the ability to have the golf scores automatically uploaded to GHIN handicap system.
  3. Having to score your game in the watch and then turn around and do it all again on the GHIN app is ridiculous.  Most of my golfing buddies use Garmin and all would love this additional feature.
  4. Please add that connection for scores and all the associated stats.  If Garmin is serious about being a golf watch supplier this simple feature is a must have for serious golfers.  Its also a feature that should have been available from the beginning!
  • I have the S62 and would love it to have the ability to integrate with GHIN.  As has been pointed out this has been an ask for over 5 years.  As an alternative does anyone have a recommendation for a watch brands that includes integration with GHIN.

  • I have been using an S62 for a few years now and I am debating switching to The Grint or Arccos with an Apple Watch just to have GHIN compatibility.

  • This really is critical if Garmin wants to be the definitive golf watch. I switched to the S70 from thegrint on an Android watch purely for the hardware performance. I'm happy with the ecosystem as I also bought the rangefinder as well but the issue of not integrating to the actual handicap system is a big one. It's nice that Garmin calculates their own version for you, but that doesn't help in tournaments, clubs or even golf trips where you want to compete with your buddies who all have handicaps.

I just returned from a golf trip where I was again frustrated as I hadn't re-entered my scores since October on GHIN so my real handicap was 2 points lower than my current "Garmin" handicap. Scorekeeping was a big deal in my purchase and re-entering scores after every round is not sustainable. If there was an Android watch with the same battery performance as my S70 I would leave the Garmin ecosystem in a heartbeat and go back to thegrint. Wouldn't consider leaving other than this large issue

  • I see Garmin wants you to join "Garmin Golf" for $99/yr.  I think you need that to get Garmin to calculate your Handicap index.  If that is true I'm guessing they won't want you to be able to integrate with GHIN.  If they do they will miss out on the $99/yr.  Now I'm sure not everyone signs up for "Garmin Golf" but I'm guessing enough people do to make it worth their while to continue.

Does that make sense to anyone?

  • Not really because they could just offer the GHIN integration feature as a part of the $99 annual subscription.

  • The Grint is compatible with iOS/Apple Watch and Android/Wear 3 OS-compatible watches.

The Grint can sync scores directly with GHIN.

I've given up on Garmin ever making this a feature of their "Golf" tooling.

  • Yes they could take that approach.  I'm not sure how many people would sign up for $99/year because they added GHIN integration.  From a business point of view I think a better approach would be to offer it as a stand alone service at a lower price say $10 or even $5 a year.  Volume would probably result in a nice revenue pick up and hopefully cover any increase in costs.  Then once customers are hooked they can increase the fee a little at a time in the future.  Of course giving it away for free would be my first choice as a customer :).

  • You don't need the subscription for them to calculate a handicap.  The only thing it gives you if you only have the watch is green heat maps.  Complete BS.  If you have an R10 or an R50 then you get home tee hero which is probably worth it, but as a watch user only I'd love to have the heat maps, but not at $100 a year.  Garmin doesn't listen to its users and it's golf software leaves a lot to be desired.  They have no interest in putting resources into it.  The hardware is great, but software is marginal at best.  The lack of GHIN integration is deplorable considering users have been asking for it for years and Garmin is silent.

  • I have not been able to calculate my handicap on Garmin golf.  I was assuming the subscription was needed and since I don't have one I was getting no handicap.  Does anyone know how or where I would see my handicap on Garmin Golf?

  • there’s nothing you need to do to calculate a handicap. Period Garmin does it automatically for you. click on the stats tab on the bottom. Then click on performance stats. It should be right there on the top
