Is there a way to import maps in to Garmin Explore? Here in Norway the basic topo map and the OSM are just not good enough.
The aerial/satellite map works great on Explore Web, but i am missing the same map on mobile.

It really is a shame that Garmin does not care about its customers in Europe. Current maps with no details makes the whole app useless. In Finland there are plenty of outdoor apps which use free topology…
I am not aware of any plans to add more map types to the Explore App, but I would be happy to open a Support Ticket to make the request. Please reply to the PM I sent you as I'll need to confirm a few…
I also live in QLD and was disappointed to realise I couldn't load any PDF with coordinate data into the app like I can with Avenza. This is poor from a name brand like Garmin
My guess is that they wont do a thing for explore app. Last autumn i tested Easyhunt-app , since i have garmin fenix 6 watch also, i could connect the alpha handset and collar to that app with my watch. On that you can use lower pixel ration of those Maanmittauslaitos-maps. The downside of the app is after 3 months trial period it needs a subscribtion and you need to choose the area of the maps first. It doesnt give you full coverage of the Finnish map. It works in Sweden also. Also the app has a habit of crashing sometimes.
Any news on this topic Andrew?
We all agree that the maps are bellow average in some places but this sort of comment is not acceptable.
The expression is unacceptable but the sentiment is understandable.
Three years since this issue was raised and zero movement. High quality GeoPDF topographic maps from state mapping authorities are available in every state in Australia for free, and in many other places around the world too. Every other mapping application supports importing GeoPDF. Garmin's 'horrible' maps would be a nonissue if they just supported importing standard format topographic maps.
Will Garmin give a Christmas present and solve this issue by introducing usable maps for Garmin Explore users? I really hope that they would solve this issue because maps are available, they only need to add them to the app.
Very disappointing to read this has been asked for 3 years ago and still nothing has been done. The product is good, but the app is quite lacking and frankly the mapping is complete rubbish compared to so many others. It's extremely silly to have a GPS tracking device with poor maps. Simply allow us to import our own maps and the problem is solved!
How can Garmin be so arrogant that they does not hear its customers feedback about completely useless maps in the Garmin Explore app? This is so frustrating to wait for a simple feature to the app so that users can use other maps than Garmins poor maps with lack of details. Apparently customers need to change the brand of their equipment to get the best out of them, so they can really plan and see their routes in the map!!!
Simple. We continue being customers…
