Is there a way to import maps in to Garmin Explore? Here in Norway the basic topo map and the OSM are just not good enough.
The aerial/satellite map works great on Explore Web, but i am missing the same map on mobile.

It really is a shame that Garmin does not care about its customers in Europe. Current maps with no details makes the whole app useless. In Finland there are plenty of outdoor apps which use free topology…
I am not aware of any plans to add more map types to the Explore App, but I would be happy to open a Support Ticket to make the request. Please reply to the PM I sent you as I'll need to confirm a few…
I also live in QLD and was disappointed to realise I couldn't load any PDF with coordinate data into the app like I can with Avenza. This is poor from a name brand like Garmin
The only maps available in the Explore app are those found on the list of map types available for download in the selected region per steps in this article: Downloading Maps with the Garmin Explore App It isn't possible to import any other map types or custom maps into the Explore app.
Thanks for the reply.
Are there any plans in the near future to add more detailed maps to countries outside USA?

Hi, We have the same issue here in Australia. The OSM layers used are just not good enough. Strangely though if you go to the OSM webpage the map detail is better, why is this detail not loaded into the app? Also in Queensland ( other states are the same), we have access to Topo QLD via a WMS, and it's open to public and commercial use. I've used the WMS server URL to link these layers into various mapping apps on IOS and Android devices would be good if Garmin could do this into the explore app. The same applies to the Earthmate app, I pay the same amount for a subscription to service as someone in the US and they get detailed maps, we get OSM....
Can I also submit a request ticket?
Hi, the missing option to use basically no other map than the poor one which comes with the app makes the App almost useless for me. I can only use the App to import .gpx from Komoot etc. For planning a hike in Europe the built in map is not precise enough. So please add me to the list if you open a ticket. For the time being there is no other option to carry the laptop on a hike and let the Tablet at home.
Hi, any news on this? It would be great to use the Explore app as my main navigation/map app, but currently that is not an option because the maps are not good enough.
Hi, im up for the ticket list too. No point of selling Garmin Alpha 10 here in europe unless the maps used on explore app get better. Those are just poor now.
Hi Andrew, there is the possibility to open a ticket even for my country ITALY? I've bought garmin alpha 10k and i'm using it with explorer app but the maps are very unusefuls....if there was the possibility to use trek maps or birdseye it should be wonderful. I think that a company like garmin have to improve that app for respond to the worlwide request of the buyers..
Same issue here. In NSW, Australia GeoPDF topographic maps are available for free download (https://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/etopo.html). The Explore OSM maps are simply not detailed enough for hiking (missing trails and features, insufficient detail). It should be possible to import GeoPDF maps, in the same way that third party mapping apps (e.g. Avenza Maps) allow.
